HOW BIOMASS WORKS

BY: Thomas

Biomass energy has been used by humans for over 400,000 years. When a plant grows it absorbs energy from the sun then when the plant rots or burns the plant gives off energy that can be collected and be used to produce another forms of energy like thermal or electrical energy. An example of biomass energy is a camp fire when logs are burn they give off thermal energy (heat) and radiant energy (light). When plant / waste is burned water can be boiled and when the water boils steam is made the steam then can turn a turbine, the turbine then can create electricity. waste from wood mills and needed and logging is the most used source of fuel. The growing demand for wood may cause forests to be over harvested. burning unneeded trash will decrease the.
